OCI -Spousal-Basis

Only after two years of legal marriage can a foreign spouse apply for OCI on the grounds of an Indian spouse. 2. All OCI applicants who apply under the Foreign Spouse category will be required to attend a personal interview.

Documents Required for Spousal Basis OCI :

  1. Application Form.

  2. Declaration by the OCI applicant.

  3. Apostille Birth certificate.

  4. Apostille Marriage Certificate.

  5. Canadian Passport / Foreign passport

    • If a person has hold other than Canadian citizenship,

      • Attach Canadian status copy (study permit/work permit/ PR card

  6. Spouse current passport copy.

    • Incase applicant's spouse holds Canadian Passport then need to attach spouse's OCI card.

    • Incase applicant's spouse holds only Indian passport, then attach spouse's Canadian status (Study permit/Work permit/PR card) ; Incase spouse is in visitor then then the applicant is not eligible.

  7. Employment letter

    • Self declaration will not be accepted

    • Latest employment letter is must

    • In case of not having employment letter, you can provide company offer letter under your name along with current pay stub

    • Incase the person is unemployed. On the application form under occupation section choose others and mention Unemployed. Next, give a self-declaration explaining why you are jobless.

    • If business / Self employed. Applicant need to attach article of incorporation.

  8. Address proof

    • Driving license/utility bill/Notice of assessment/ Photo ID

  9. Checklist.

  10. (2' x 2') one photograph.

  1. Incase of Postal, the fees should be paid in form of money order or demand draft.

    • BLS International Services Canada: 1.70
